THE GHOST SECRET is preparing to end its broadcast for fans to watch one last time. THE GHOST SECRET: Unveiling the Secrets of the Spirit World. Hosted by Ole Yan Sampat, Toffee Siwadon (Toffee Three Baht Fifty), and Somcheng Samcha. Due to income issues, the show has been financially impacted by a supporting company withholding millions of baht, leaving no funds to continue after 7 years. Recently, Somcheng, one of the hosts, opened up at the 'Talk Zab Show FESTIVAL' about the situation.
Is THE GHOST SECRET going to shut down?
“For us, 3 years was already good. After 3 years, the feedback was very positive, so we extended to 5 years. At 7 years, we wondered if we'd pass the 7-year curse. Ultimately, it's been 7 years, and the show will air until the end of this year. The closure is necessary because Ole’s mother is ill, and they faced a problem where the YouTube channel didn’t generate revenue due to a supporting company that took over management but didn’t pay money—cheating us out of millions. Ole has no funds to continue because our show doesn’t accept sponsors or clients. We asked Ole if he wanted to continue, maybe in a format like 'Talk Zab Show' with breaks for selling products or ads, but he declined. He said we never had that before and preferred to pause. We asked if he planned to continue alone, find support from others, or change the format. He said he hasn’t done anything yet and wants to pause first. For us hosts, after 5 years, it’s been all gain in experience. Are we sad? Yes, it’s a pity to end a good show. We started as three investing time, effort, and money. Now that Ole says we must stop, it’s a bit regrettable.”
Can you negotiate with the supporting company to claim what’s owed?
“Ole is probably talking to a lawyer now. It’s the same company that Eed Ponglang sued and won, recovering money. We’re also working with a lawyer to help us. We have hope—let’s say half and half—keeping our expectations guarded. We can definitely sue because Eed did and got his money back. We should also get it, though maybe not the full amount.”
Is there a chance to restart the show with a new name?
“We don’t know yet. It depends on Ole. We’ve talked with Toffee—without Ole, it’s just Somcheng and Toffee. Anything can happen. We believe it’s all destined. We’ll wait for the future. Maybe after 7 years, a sponsor will embrace us and we can continue.”
