Are you a full-time mother now?
"I'm starting to settle into it. At first, I thought it would be more difficult, but as I adjusted and learned along with him, I began to enjoy it. It's a new challenge in life. I now have a new routine with feeding and pumping milk. These days, I breastfeed him directly. As for sleep, I'm lucky that he falls asleep easily—once I finish pumping milk, he quickly dozes off. I also sleep deeply, so when I wake up, I don't feel too tired. I've been able to organize my schedule quickly. Normally, I pump every three hours, and at night I stretch the intervals a bit. Now I'm still adapting and getting used to it gradually. I have a nanny helping me, and my mother and sister also assist a lot. Everyone is eager to help, especially my sister, who has been with me through every stage of life. Now that I have a child, she stays with me all the time."
Did you experience postpartum mood issues, like baby blues?
"Yes, right after leaving the postpartum recovery center, I felt like I didn't know what to do, especially since my baby was born prematurely and I wasn't fully prepared. On the first day, I didn't even have a side pillow for him, and I cried a lot, wondering why I was such an unprepared mother. It was just a simple thing like a side pillow, and I couldn't understand why I hadn't thought of it. I cried heavily for a while, then pulled myself together and realized that if I were to become postpartum depressed just because I forgot something for my baby, it was something I could easily replace. It was just me overthinking. It didn't take long to get past it. Having supportive people around was really important—my sister and mother kept encouraging me, saying it was just a small matter and that I was actually quite prepared."
Did you get a lot of support on social media?
"I saw every bit of support. Thank you to everyone who encouraged me. Experienced mothers also gave me encouragement. Since I was pregnant, I felt that my baby was my biggest motivation. Every time I waited to see him, tears flowed heavily when I first saw his face. My grandmother is very doting, and my aunt keeps buying storybooks because my sister studies early childhood education and carefully selects books for her nephew. This has helped lighten my load a lot, and now he's the beloved nephew."
Did friends send their support?
"Yes, many. P' Baifern said she would throw a big party for her nephew, so we're waiting for that. We talk often. She has been very busy with work lately. When the baby was born, I told her right away, and she’s been waiting to visit."
Have you lost much weight since giving birth?
"During pregnancy, I gained 13 kilograms, and now I've lost 10 kilograms, which is pretty fast. Breastfeeding and pumping milk have helped me lose weight quickly. Luckily, I don't get very hungry, so the weight has come off faster. I try to take care of my baby as much as possible myself and never miss a pumping session. I've gotten used to it now. Even when I go to work, I pump milk in the car, and after work, I pump again on the way home."
