“Chompoo Araya” Opens Up About Go-Kart Drama Involving “Nong Payu”: Okay, Still Passionate, No Regrets About Donations to Foundation

“Chompoo Araya” , opens up for the first time about the go-kart racing controversy involving her son, “Nong Payu.” She also shares her perspective on the news surrounding the “Foundation for Good Deeds” associated with “Boom Panadda,” whom she had previously donated to support social causes.

Do you want to say anything about the intense recent drama concerning Nong Payu's go-kart competition?

“That’s a very broad question—hard to continue because it’s already in the past.”

How did it affect his mental state?

“Affect him how? It’s an experience. I think it’s normal for parents—if a child feels something, we feel even more. Ultimately, I believe that what happens is always for the best. It’s an experience.”

How is Nong Payu doing?

“He’s okay, with lots of support. Kids move on faster than adults. I’ve said that before, and it’s true—this case is no different.”

Some worry he might lose passion for racing—is that the case?

“Oh no, we’ve talked about it. This isn’t the first obstacle he’s faced; there have been many challenges before. He remains focused and determined, and still is to this day.”

How did you explain to Nong Payu that he didn’t receive a trophy that day? What advice would you give on how to talk to children in such situations?

“I told him honestly what happened that day because we knew together—we were both there and understood equally. I explained the truth. It didn’t take long for him to understand because kids consume content like F1, which is known in the racing world. When it happened to him, it wasn’t new. I taught him it can happen to anyone.”

How did you explain it to him, since many people felt sad for him?

“No need to explain much. As a mother, I understand. No need to dwell on it—it’s over now.”

Is it true that you will take Nong Payu to compete in Italy, as Abigail mentioned?

“(Smiles) Nothing is certain yet. His father has some business there, and the kids overheard and want to go along.”

But Nong Payu will continue competing, right?

“From the start, we only planned for this one program. We’ll discuss next year’s races later because during the season we have to train, which might sometimes affect school. So we will plan again at the end of the year to decide which events to enter. Our family travels often—we are five members, including P'Saifa and Nong Gle. Travel schedules affect everyone.”

We have to plan carefully so Payu can follow his dreams and do what he loves while we still have quality family time together as a group. We will review the many race options and choose what suits him and fits our schedule.”

Does what happened reflect that Thai people really love family?

“Oh, don’t get emotional or I’ll cry (laughs). I didn’t expect this. I truly thank everyone and want to say I’ve seen almost all the support, so thank you.”

People keep saying, 'I raised mine,' right?

“It might be about the bond. We’ve seen each other through every stage of life.”

Regarding Boom Panadda’s Foundation for Good Deeds, to which you also donated, how do you feel seeing the recent news? What’s your perspective?

“I sympathize with everyone. Personally, whatever I gave at that time was done sincerely and with good intentions. I don’t regret it. I still support Boom Panadda—I sent her a message to encourage her. I hope this opportunity is used to clear up any confusion or complications.”

“If there are complexities or improper actions, this is a chance to restructure the organization properly. I have no hard feelings because I recognize the work done. When we have good intentions, we ask her directly if anything is lacking or unclear, and where our donated money goes. That’s fine. I have no regrets. From now on, any faults will be handled according to due process.”
