A video has gone viral on social media after the page for Namo Ban Chang Thong gold shop, Phet Thong & Jewelry, posted footage showing the atmosphere when the singer and actress Pim Pimmada Boriraksupakorn or Pim Saza took her mother to bring gold they had collected since her youth to the shop for inspection and melting. But when they learned the price the shop gave, both mother and daughter were stunned, especially Pim, whose eyes widened in surprise.
In the video, Namo, the gold shop owner, said, “Today, Pim and her mother brought gold scraps to our shop for inspection and melting. How do you feel about it, Pim?” Pim replied, “It’s a lot of fun and very educational.” Her mother added, “At first, I intended just to melt and keep it, but Namo advised that after melting, we should buy gold bars to take home, or else it won’t have a value. We didn’t understand that.”
Namo explained, “That’s right. If you sell gold scraps with 78% purity to some gold shops, they might not buy it or refuse to buy it at all. So, you sell this and convert it into a new asset—gold bars.”
Her mother said she didn’t intend to sell it, just to melt and keep it. She didn’t understand that keeping it like that wouldn’t work and that it must be converted into gold bars. Namo said, “Yes, it has to be converted into gold bars. When the price goes up, you can sell later. This is called making the asset easier to handle.”
Then Namo asked her mother, “Beforehand, how much did you estimate it could sell for?” Her mother answered, 900,000 baht, while Pim guessed about 700,000 baht. Namo said, “To save time, let’s see what the actual amount is today. Here it is.”
Namo showed the number on the calculator: 1,910,241 baht. It was so high that Pim and her mother exclaimed “Wow!” and their eyes widened in shock. The mother said, “Wow, I thought it would be about 900,000 baht.”
Namo said it was nearly 2 million baht. When asked how many years her mother had saved it, she replied, “Since I started working, since I was young. Whenever I got a bonus, I bought a piece at a time.” Namo added that he heard Pim say she would receive all the money from this sale. The mother confirmed, “Yes, all of it.” Pim happily kissed her mother’s cheek. Namo teased, “How is that? So sweet.” Both mother and daughter laughed joyfully.
