After Boom Panadda and lawyer Phet Eksit Srisang returned to their residence in the Nawamin area and stated that if an arrest warrant is indeed issued, authorities can come to arrest her at home.
As of the late afternoon, no arrest has been made, but lawyer Phet and Boom Panadda gave interviews to the media about their feelings and legal strategy amid rumors of an approved arrest warrant.
Is there a report that the arrest warrant has already been issued?
Lawyer Phet said, “We’ve been waiting since 11 a.m. If it’s issued, we are willing to follow the process.”
How does Boom feel about this?
Boom Panadda said, “It’s a mix of emotions, but I’ve been preparing myself mentally. I’ve left the children mostly with their grandmother because my eldest children are just 4 and 2 years old. I am the main support of the family, so I have to care for them, including little Anda, who I worry about. My mother is 76 years old. I’m concerned about how to take care of them all. That’s my biggest worry. Personally, I am ready to prove my case through the justice process.”
Are you worried about being denied bail?
Lawyer Phet said, “Given the media coverage and past cases like this, we understand. With our good faith and adherence to the law, showing ourselves as we have tried to do, we sincerely hope to exercise our constitutional rights. But if the court denies bail, we accept and will comply with all rulings.”
What message do you want to convey to society?
Boom said, “There’s nothing else but to apologize. I’m sorry for disappointing everyone and for causing bad feelings. I apologize to the foundation’s committee and to those who love and trust me. There is no other word but a sincere apology. But whatever was wrong, I must be held accountable.”
Are you the only one taking responsibility?
Lawyer Phet said, “When Boom answered previously, she accepted sole responsibility because the other committee members were in a difficult position. We have never denied responsibility from day one, but there are different kinds of faults—violating rules and regulations, which must be addressed, and criminal offenses like embezzlement or fraud, which must be proven. We do not deny responsibility; that is what she meant by accepting fault.”
Today, many close associates have filed complaints. How do you feel?
Boom said, “That’s their right.”
Lawyer Phet said, “We welcome the investigation.”
Do you want to clarify if the reports are 100% correct or if there are errors?
Lawyer Phet said, “Regarding the financial trails, which are forensic police evidence, no matter how skilled our lawyers are, they cannot dispute that. So, regarding financial paths, I told Boom we must tell the truth to investigators and police.”
Do you feel that from the very first steps of establishing the foundation until now, mistakes were made from the start?
Lawyer Phet said, “I prefer not to answer since it concerns feelings. Personally, I think the intention was good at first, but what happened afterward, I cannot confirm.”
Did everything that happened arise from intention or mistake?
Lawyer Phet said, “Explaining intent versus negligence or error is a long discussion.”
Is this contradictory to your initial claim of innocence when now you say you accept sole responsibility?
Lawyer Phet said, “The meaning of ‘guilty’ or ‘not guilty’ differs among individuals. Some believe they are not guilty because they did not steal, but if rules or regulations were violated, as lawyers we explain that even if they don’t think they are at fault, they are partially responsible. That is what I want to convey.”
Why did lawyer Phet criticize lawyer Ple on today’s program?
Lawyer Phet said, “It’s not a criticism. As fellow lawyers, I believe he’s not wrong and I told him we shouldn’t say much when it’s a social issue with public attention. No matter how much reasoning or evidence we present, no one listens—just look at the comments.”
Do you confirm you will not surrender until now?
Lawyer Phet said, “We still don’t know if the arrest warrant is issued or not. If Boom drives and gets arrested en route, and someone says she was caught fleeing, we prefer to wait here.”
How strong is Boom at this time?
Boom said, “Thanks to all the support, understanding, and those who don’t blame me, I really appreciate it. My daughter keeps encouraging me; she’s very strong.”
