After facing social media attacks accusing Num Kanchai of presenting news about Boom Panadda that seemed to add pressure on her regarding the donation trail of the Good Deeds Foundation, Muay Arisara, the female news anchor co-hosting with Kanchai, asked him about the public reaction to this issue on the Midday Current Events program,
Muay: Many people have asked about this issue. How do you see it, P'Num? Some feel that our news coverage seems like it's adding to Boom's troubles.
Kanchai: I saw that in the beginning there were people saying I was making things worse, asking why it had to be so harsh, why bring it up like that when she has done good deeds. To explain, it’s not adding pressure. But honestly, it’s difficult for me. First, being a journalist delivering this news is challenging.
Boom and I have known each other for no less than 25 years — a very long time. I’ll be honest, I even once had a crush on her. Boom Panadda, back when we were young, I liked her. She was beautiful and charming. I was fond of her. Even now she’s still beautiful. I chose to donate to her foundation because I care for her. I never had any other intentions. I just donated.
But I went to the police because Oi Sri filed a complaint and named me and Putt as witnesses. We had to go since we know each other. Today, sitting here, I’m also wearing another hat — as a journalist reporting this. Notice, when she held a press conference, I said nothing. At the start, when lawyer Toi stood beside her, I was criticized for knowing her and being friends and not reporting this. But when I did report facts about the foundation, not from my opinions, that’s when people started complaining.. People ask why this has to be reported, if it’s difficult for me. It is difficult.
