Corrections Department Reports Bum-Panadda and Got Adjust Well on First Night in Prison, No Signs of Stress

"Bum Panadda" is worried about her children and mother, eating and sleeping normally. Meanwhile, "Got" reported having gout and kidney disease; the Corrections Department placed him in quarantine for 5 days, confirming neither shows high anxiety symptoms.

On 8 Nov 2023 GMT+7, the news team received updates from the Corrections Department regarding the detention progress of Mr. Athip Ananthawan also known as Got, a suspect in a public fraud case, and Bum Panadda, after the Criminal Court ordered their remand.

Bangkok Remand Prison admitted Mr. Athip, where nurses conducted initial health checks finding him alert and able to answer questions and care for himself. He reported chronic illnesses of gout and kidney disease, ongoing treatment for 3 years, and a past right forearm tendon surgery. He has no known drug or food allergies and denies substance abuse. Officials placed him in the new detainee quarantine for 5 days per standard procedure.

Meanwhile, the Central Women's Correctional Institution admitted Bum Panadda into a 12-day remand quarantine. Staff recorded her history, conducted physical exams, and assessed her mental state. Nurses and social workers reported that Bum Panadda is in good health with no chronic illnesses. Overall, her mental state is good, though she admitted feeling concerned for her mother and children outside. She ate dinner normally, having clear soup with glass noodles and boiled egg, and has made no special requests.

The Corrections Department spokesperson added that both Got Athip and Bum Panadda have adjusted well to prison life, sleeping normally, with no signs of stress or high anxiety.

Reports indicate that this morning, Bum did not eat breakfast, as she normally does (the menu was clear soup with fresh radish and pork ribs). She planned to wait for lunch (spicy coconut chicken soup and watermelon). She interacted well with cellmates, showing no isolation or stress, but requested prayer books and novels.
