"Every clash is raw, every second fierce, and every debt heavy to repay." Get ready for "The Furious Debt Collector," an action thriller from Netflix featuring a major role shift by two of Thailand's top actors as they come together. Nadech Kugimiya and Tah Wu Pithaya Saechua face off in roles that are raw, brutal, and the most intense of their acting careers.
Both unleash full force in fighting roles as vengeful men burdened by harsh pasts and unpaid life debts, fueling every punch, bullet, and life-risking decision.
Nadech Kugimiya described his major physical and emotional transformation for this role: "The character Noom is dark, deeply troubled, and required the most physical and emotional effort I've ever put into a role. I deliberately lost weight to portray someone imprisoned and seriously ill.
I tried to shed the 'Nadech' image completely. Later, I prepared for scenes by limiting water intake, controlling my diet days before shooting, and even going barefoot on set. I wanted to truly feel the character's suffering to portray it authentically. We also applied tattoos, wounds, and spent 3-4 hours coloring my skin before filming.
Seeing myself in the mirror, I felt these elements greatly helped me as an actor, making me truly feel like the character. Playing "Noom" elevated my thinking, skills, and many aspects of myself. It was a challenging role that felt like breaking through and freeing myself from something. Although exhausting, it was a rewarding and thrilling experience."
Meanwhile, Tah Wu Pithaya Saechua spoke about his character "Poh" and his preparation: "At first, I hesitated to accept the role because 'Poh' is very challenging and quite different from me and my past roles.
Poh is a ruthless, quick-tempered red-flag villain who is ambitious and often overreaches. Yet, looking through a human lens, Poh is deeply human—he does everything to be accepted, to be great, to be feared and respected. This is reflected in every aspect,
from his appearance and dressing to his thinking, speech, and actions. Poh is a demanding role that challenged my acting skills. I experienced more mature, layered acting. I wanted to see if I could truly bring Poh to life and convince audiences this was Poh, not Tah Wu. I’m very excited and feel this role will elevate my acting to a new level."
"The Furious Debt Collector" is an action thriller from Netflix with a dark atmosphere and intense emotions, telling a story about debt that goes beyond money—it's a "life debt" lingering from the past, hard to repay and deeply felt.
At its core, the film explores the social issue of "debt," a universal reality linking people, initially inspired by news about informal loans, their impacts, and the violence victims face. Director Surapong Ploensang added,
"The Furious Debt Collector is an action thriller about debt in many forms, beyond the concrete repayment everyone knows, like money. We want viewers to explore another side of 'debt'—the abstract, moral debts each person carries in their heart, perhaps from wronging someone and unable to let go of the regret. This is another kind of debt.
I see these feelings as the hardest debts to repay. So I chose to tell this social issue through a fierce, raw action film that lets the audience feel the pressure and tension from each character's decisions and experience the emotional and moral complexities within each character."
"The Furious Debt Collector" tells the story of "Noom" (played by Nadech Kugimiya), a former brutal debt collector tormented by the guilt from his past deeds. After release from prison and discovering he is ill, he decides to leave that life behind and seek peace.
However, he inadvertently becomes entangled in a violent debt collection incident led by "Poh" (played by Tah Wu Pithaya Saechua), the ruthless son of a powerful loan shark matriarch. This violence ignites Noom’s fury, driving him to fight back and seek justice for victims of informal loan sharks.
Joining him is "Kong" (played by Top Chaiwat Thongsaeng), a police officer investigating debt collection victims, plunging into this brutal battleground. A fierce chase ensues to reclaim the "life debt" owed to victims and to "repay Noom’s emotional debts" from his past.
Prepare for an intense pursuit of "life debt" repayment, packed with realistic action and gripping drama in "The Furious Debt Collector," streaming exclusively on Netflix from 23 July.
