The East Palace – New Korean Period Drama Series on Netflix

Netflix has announced the streaming schedule for a new Korean series. "The East Palace" They also revealed a poster announcing the release date, offering a glimpse into a historical drama series filled with supernatural mysteries.

The story depicts a world where the royal palace intersects with a dark realm full of wandering spirits. Viewers will follow the journey of how the only way to break the royal curse is by entering the realm of the "Gwi," or the spirit world. Prepare to watch worldwide on 17 July, exclusively on Netflix!

The East Palace is a work by director Choi Jung-gyu, known for The Devil Judge and Children of Nobody, who teams up with writers Kwon So-ra and Seo Jae-won, creators of the distinctive worlds in Bulgasal: Immortal Souls and The Guest. Their collaboration promises an exceptional storytelling experience that immerses viewers in the world they have crafted.

The East Palace series also marks a major role change for Nam Joo-hyuk, known for Twenty-Five Twenty-One, Start-Up, and The School Nurse Files, portraying Gucheon, a man with the ability to cross the boundary between the human world and the "Gwi" realm, where he punishes spirits that have encroached too far into the human world.

Meanwhile, Noh Yoon-seo, from Crash Course in Romance, 20th Century Girl, and Our Blues, plays Saenggang, a palace maid who can sense and connect with the spirit world.

Also starring Jo Seung-woo, known for Divorce Attorney Shin, Sisyphus: The Myth, and Stranger, as the king who summons Gucheon and Saenggang to the East Palace residence, adding depth and intensity to the series.

The newly released poster evokes the otherworldly realm Gucheon must enter, hinting at the mysteries ahead. As Gucheon and Saenggang face events within the silent palace walls and cross into the "Gwi" realm, they gradually uncover secrets buried deep within the palace and a past dangerously linked to the present. Forced to cooperate despite hidden secrets, their story grows increasingly mysterious and thrilling, captivating viewers throughout.
