CP Axtra participated in the Asia EnwastExpo 2026, demonstrating its capability in managing food waste and pointing out that the retail business is a key cog in the food waste system because it sits at the intersection between producers and consumers.
On 5 Feb, reporters reported that CP Axtra Public Company Limited, the operator of wholesale and retail businesses Makro and Lotus, participated in the Asia Environmental and Waste Management Expo (Asia EnwastExpo) 2026. This event showcases products, services, and seminars on environment and waste management across Asia under the theme "Empowering Asia’s Green Future." It serves as a key platform for exchanging knowledge, innovations, and effective resource management approaches to tackle environmental challenges in the Asian region.
Ms. Siriporn Dechsing, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer of CP Axtra, took part in a seminar titled "From Food Waste to National Opportunity: The Role of Government and Retail in Transforming Thailand’s Food System." She shared perspectives on Thailand’s food waste situation, which remains a significant challenge environmentally and in resource efficiency. The retail sector is a crucial part of the system as it connects producers and consumers. She presented concrete case studies of food waste reduction efforts, including systematic sorting and management of surplus food, redistribution of quality food to communities and the underprivileged through partner networks, and using data and technology for analysis and planning to reduce food loss from the source. These efforts not only reduce environmental impact but also create sustainable economic and social benefits.
Ms. Siriporn stated that CP Axtra’s participation in Asia EnwastExpo reflects its commitment to being part of driving Asia’s green economy. The company will continue to build integrated cooperation with all sectors to turn food waste into national opportunities and help establish a balanced and fair food management system for long-term sustainability.
