It received the official boundary demarcation (Wisungkhamasima) on 12 Jan 1979 (B.E. 2522) and is currently affiliated with the Maha Nikaya Buddhist order.

According to historical accounts, in the past, a group of villagers was relocated from the area Ban Wang Daeng Tai (now Wang Daeng Tai Subdistrict, Thap Khlo District, Phichit Province). Most of these villagers were of " Lao Phuan " ethnicity and were tasked with dredging and straightening the Pa Sak River canal.

Afterward, the villagers found the area fertile and decided to settle there, which is now Tha Ruea District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. They established a temple named after their original homeland, thus "Wat Wang Daeng Tai."

Wat Wang Daeng Tai consists of one ubosot (ordination hall), three viharns (assembly halls), and three small chedis (stupas). The ubosot is the temple's main building and faces east. Outside the temple walls, there is a three-story square bell tower and, on the west side, a scripture hall (hor trai) situated in the middle of a pond.

The ancient ubosot, the temple’s principal building, is constructed of brick and mortar with a base shaped like a lotus petal with a raised center resembling a chicken’s chest. Traces of the original plaster remain on the base and walls. In 2012 (B.E. 2555), it was renovated to restore its strength and integrity while preserving its original architectural form, making Wat Wang Daeng Tai an architectural heritage site for future generations to study.
