Biography of Luang Pu Jai
He was born on Sunday, the 2nd day of the waxing moon in the first lunar month of the Dog year, corresponding to 23 November 1862, in Bang Kung subdistrict, Bang Khon Tee district, Samut Songkhram province. His father was Mr. Kham Khamsamchai and his mother was Mrs. Un Khamsamchai. He passed away on 23 June 1962 at the age of 100, having practiced Buddhism for 78 years.
Luang Pu Jai of Wat Sadet was a chief disciple of Luang Pu Yim of Wat Nong Bua. He received training in making Takrud Luk Om from Luang Pu Yim. They created these amulets in three metals: gold, copper-nickel alloy (nak), and silver. His method involved using machinery to roll metal sheets and cut them. He then rolled the Takrud into round coils. Inside, he inscribed yantra numerals according to the Lok That heart scripture, beginning with a fan-shaped yantra, followed by the Khmer script reading “Ichchanto Chitto Ichchanto Lokthat Maha,” and finished with a fan-shaped yantra seal.
Next, he consecrated the amulets again and threaded silk that he hand-twisted himself. The silk colors corresponded to the kasina colors: red, white, blue, green, and yellow. Because the Takrud were machine-rolled, each one was tightly wound with a central hole for threading the silk. All of Luang Pu Jai’s Takrud Luk Om are round coils with naturally uneven ends; some ends are close to the coil body. The gold and copper-nickel ones are smaller than the silver ones. Counterfeits usually have all three metals the same size, making this a good way to verify authenticity.
