Phra Phong Suphan is a national treasure and one of the famous Benjapakee amulets. In Suphanburi, when mentioning a grand amulet vault that remains a living testimony to this day, the large prang (tower) of Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat must be named first. It is located

in Rua Yai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Suphanburi Province, ranking first among many discovered amulet vaults in Suphanburi. Phra Phong Suphan was officially opened from the vault in 1913 CE by Phraya Sunthornburi (Yi Kransut), who was then the city governor. He found numerous amulets, Buddha images, and other antiques. Phraya Sunthornburi presented some amulets to King Vajiravudh during the King's visit to Don Chedi memorial around the same time.



Phra Phong Suphan is a powder amulet mixed with pollen and 108 sacred herbs believed to bring good fortune. It comes in four colors: red, yellow (pikool), green, and black. Additionally, there are three different molds.

Regarding Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat, the large prang, and Phra Phong Suphan, it is said that when the vault was first broken open, many gold and silver palm-leaf manuscripts were lost because they were melted down. Some leaves were copied and translated later. In summary, Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat, its large prang, and the many amulets found in the vault were established by King U-Thong (King Ramathibodi I) in 1347 CE. The chief monk was Phra Maha Thera Piyathassari Saributra, and the hermit chief was Ruesi Thiwalai. These artifacts are now over six centuries old.
