Angaraki Chaturthi 2026, the year's first auspicious time, falls on Tuesday, 6 January 2026, with blessings as powerful as worshipping Lord Ganesha all year.
Legend Mangala : Mars The king of war, a god skilled in battle who conquers all enemies.
He is considered the son of Mother Earth, rides a goat as his vehicle, radiates lightning-like brilliance, is the deity of Tuesday, one of the nine celestial influencers, and directly affects human fate.
Mars Also known as Mangala (Auspicious), those who worship Mars will see their enemies flee and suffer defeat, while gaining great blessings in life.
Mars had deep devotion to Lord Ganesha, worshipping him daily. Especially on the 4th waning moon day of every month, Mars performed special worship of Ganesha. According to legend, because Mars worshipped Ganesha on this day and pleased him greatly, Ganesha blessed Mars abundantly. It is believed that anyone who worships Ganesha on the 4th waning moon day as Mars did will receive blessings from Ganesha.
Those who worship Lord Ganesha on the 4th waning moon day coinciding with Tuesday (Angaraki Chaturthi) will receive special blessings from Ganesha and also from Mars.
"Devotees of Lord Ganesha believe that those who sincerely fast, chant prayers from sunrise to sunset on Angaraki Chaturthi will receive merit equivalent to worshipping Ganesha for an entire year."
It should be noted that Angaraki Chaturthi does not occur every year; some years it doesn't happen at all, and some years only once. In 2026, the 4th waning moon days that fall on Tuesday occur three times: 1 January (New Year's Day), 6 January (Angaraki Chaturthi), and 22 January 2026, which is Ganesha Chaturthi, Lord Ganesha's birthday.
For those who urgently wish to pray without offerings, chant the mantra:
"Om Sri Ganesaya Namaha" (chant 108 times), then make your wish. This helps with success in life, fortune, and wealth.
