Phra Mahet Sawon, Central Mold, Chin Sangkawanar Alloy from Wat Phra Sri

Phra Mahet Sawon is a premier Buddha amulet made of Chin alloy, known as a top warrior amulet from the Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat relic chamber in Suphanburi Province. It features a distinctive U-Thong Buddhist art style characterized by two opposite faces, which strengthens the otherwise delicate neck area. The amulet depicts the Buddha seated in the Mara Vichai posture and is famed for its invulnerability and exceptional protective power, making it one of the five most revered warrior amulets made of Chin alloy.

History

Phra Mahet Sawon is considered a leading amulet discovered in the relic chamber of the prang at Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat in 1913 CE (B.E. 2456). It was found together with Phra Phong Suphan amulets. The mold, inspired by U-Thong craftsmen’s imagination, is notably intricate and superior compared to other amulets found in Suphanburi. These were cast in a type of silver-tin alloy with a blackened surface and some specimens show verdigris patina. There are four distinct molds of this amulet.

The four molds of Phra Mahet Sawon

1. Paired faces mold, available in large, medium, and small sizes

2. Single face mold

3. Straight face mold

4. Special mold with a unique back design differing from the others

Additionally, Phra Mahet Sawon is highly trusted among devotees who seek powerful spiritual benefits, particularly in invulnerability and protection against danger. This lineage of amulets has never disappointed. I invoke the blessings of Phra Mahet Sawon to protect readers and turn misfortune into fortune.
