It starts today! The 2026 Annual Sapaan Luang Goddess Birthday Festival A golden opportunity only once a year—inviting spiritual devotees to pray for career, luck, and love, and enjoy five full nights of traditional opera performances.
This is an auspicious occasion for spiritual devotees and believers as the Sapaan Luang Goddess Shrine holds the grand annual celebration of the goddess's birthday, also known as "Ah Ma Sae," from 7 to 11 May 2026. This year, the sacred day falls on 9 May, believed to be the time when the goddess’s blessings are most potent, ideal for praying for success in all aspects.
Besides being open for public worship daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, the festival features continuous traditional Chinese opera performances for five nights. This ancient custom, now rarely seen, enhances the atmosphere of faith and brings good fortune to the Sapaan Luang neighborhood.
Prayers to the Sapaan Luang Goddess are renowned for their sacred power, especially regarding career, love, and fortune. The recommended steps are as follows:
1. Preparation: Purify your mind and recite the prayer verses provided by the shrine.
2. Making a wish: Clearly state your full name, date of birth, and your specific request. It is advised to focus on just one most important wish to strengthen your sincere intention.
3. Offerings: You may bring food offerings (except beef) or auspicious fruits. After worship, you can take the offerings back to eat for added good fortune.
The Sapaan Luang Goddess Shrine has long been a spiritual center for the Thai-Chinese community in this area. The "Goddess" or "Ma Jiu" is a sea deity who protects travelers and grants blessings for peace and happiness. Celebrating her birthday is an expression of gratitude and a way to preserve this cherished cultural tradition.
For convenience and speed, public transportation is recommended.
