The Heart Mantra of Phra Pirap: A Life of Fulfillment and Protection Against Evil Spirits and Black Magic

Luang Phi Uthen of Wat Tha Mai revealed that the heart mantra of Phra Pirap brings a life of fullness and happiness, dispelling evil spirits and black magic. Phra Pirap, also known as Phra Phai Rawa, is believed to be a form of Lord Ishvara or Shiva. This form emerged to subdue evil forces. According to Shaivism beliefs within the Brahman-Hindu tradition, Lord Ishvara is considered the creator, preserver, and destroyer who punishes wrongdoers and protects those who live righteously. He also removes dangerous illnesses and grants fortune and success simultaneously.

Opening Worship Chant

Three recitations of Namo

Namo tassa bhagavato arahato sammasambuddhassa. Namo tassa bhagavato arahato sammasambuddhassa. Namo tassa bhagavato arahato sammasambuddhassa. Imang buddhang Ong Phra Pirapang, kho ehi chong ma. Imang dhammang Ong Phra Pirapang, kho ehi chong ma. Imang sanghang Ong Phra Pirapang, kho ehi chong ma.

Phuttho sitthiriththammo, sitthirithsangho, sitthirithsukha, sukha, chaiya, chaiya, lapa, lapa, sappadhammanang, prasittime, prasitte.

(Repeat the entire chant three times)

Yaksa sawarupa chada tharayapinaka hasstaya sanatanaya thivayaya thevaya thikamprayaya tassa mai yakaraya namasivaya.

This heart worship mantra of Phra Pirap is believed to bring only auspiciousness to those who chant or hear it, destroying all misfortune. It especially protects against ignorance curses, black magic, and harmful things left behind by sorcery (carried by the wind). It also opens fortune and luck in the area where it is recited. Any endeavor undertaken thereafter is destined for success. In the realms of Thai classical dance and music, Phra Pirap is recognized as one of the three supreme teachers (alongside Phor Kae Phra Bharadmuni and Thrid Norah). His mask is essential in important ceremonies, especially the teacher homage and master initiation rituals.
