Luang Pu Thuat Iron Back Large Repeated Stamp Amulet, 1962, Wat Chang Hai

The Luang Pu Thuat Iron Back amulet from Wat Chang Hai was created in 1962.

Prince Chaloemphon Thikkamphon was the patron of this Luang Pu Thuat edition, modeling it after the 1954 Luang Pu Thuat amulet made of herbal powder by casting it in metal.

Prince Chaloemphon Thikkamphon instructed master Sawat to cast three types of metal Luang Pu Thuat Iron Back amulets: large, medium, and small molds, plus a stamped version. After casting, some large mold amulets came out imperfect or incomplete, so new molds were made and these imperfect amulets were restamped, creating the large repeated stamp version.

Meanwhile, most medium mold Luang Pu Thuat amulets were also imperfectly cast. Almost all medium molds were remade and restamped. A few medium mold amulets were properly cast and not restamped, but they are rare. This explains why the medium iron back amulets are mostly restamped, hence called the medium repeated stamp edition.

The repeated stamp Luang Pu Thuat Iron Back refers to amulets that were restamped because the original stamped lines were unclear or unattractive. The restamping sharpened the details and carving was added to enhance the amulet's appearance.
