When is Children's Day 2026?

" National Children's Day is observed on the second Saturday of January every year. In 2026, it falls on Saturday, 10 January.

What is the history of National Children's Day?

National Children's Day (English: National Children's Day) was first established on the first Monday of October 1955, following a proposal by V.M. Gulghani, a representative of the International Union for Child Welfare under the United Nations. This day was recognized as World Children's Day to raise awareness about the importance of children and youth, and to instill in children their roles and responsibilities as global citizens. Since then, many countries have officially celebrated Children's Day.

In Thailand, the first National Children's Day event was held on Monday, 3 October 1955, following a United Nations resolution. Later, the Cabinet decided that October was the rainy season in Thailand, which made organizing events difficult. Also, since Monday is a working day, parents could not bring their children to join the events. Therefore, it was proposed to move the celebration to the second Saturday of January instead. This change was first implemented in 1965 and continues to this day.
