Just hearing the name makes you stop and listen—"Sun Teen Noodle Shop," located opposite Nangua Wittaya School in Phetchabun province, has become the talk of the town with its unusual name that contrasts sharply with the flavorful taste and generous portions that keep customers filling the shop daily.
Let's explore the deliciousness of this strikingly named noodle shop, which is a large, simple shelter. What stands out is the aroma of the stewed ingredients wafting from afar. Inside, there are over 30 seats, all filled with lively customers eagerly waiting to taste the delicious food.
The shop’s highlight that wins everyone over isn’t just the name but the "stewed ingredients," including chicken drumsticks, chicken feet, and pork stewed until tender and melt-in-the-mouth soft, requiring almost no chewing. The fragrant spices deeply infuse the meat, and importantly, the generous portions ensure a fully satisfying meal for just 50 baht.
Each bowl of noodles is packed with noodles, vegetables, and large pieces of stewed meat. For chicken stewed dishes, you get no less than four drumsticks; pork stews include four to five big chunks. Besides noodle dishes, there are separate stew items like stewed chicken ribs, chicken feet, and pork available for extra orders. The value and generous portions have become widely praised and highly recommended throughout Phetchabun.
Nalinee Chuaymuangpak, 47, the owner, shared that she previously ran a noodle shop in Si Racha district, Chonburi province, but had to close it during the COVID-19 pandemic. She then decided to return to her hometown of Phetchabun to restart. With over 10 years of experience, she developed her own stewing technique to achieve meat that is tender but not tough or overly soft, with a unique fragrant aroma she prefers to keep a secret.
"I intended for customers to leave the shop full from just one bowl, so I serve generous portions like this. Many come back for seconds or take some home for their families," Nalinee, the owner of Sun Teen Noodle Shop, said.
She also emphasized quality and cleanliness. After closing each day, she buys fresh ingredients from a department store in the city. Daily, about 17 kilograms each of chicken feet and pork are stewed overnight with her special spices to be ready to serve fresh and delicious in the morning.
The shop’s bestseller is stewed chicken feet and pork, which sell out by early afternoon. Regarding the shop’s name "Sun Teen Noodle," Nalinee briefly explained with a smile, "I chose it so customers would easily remember the shop," which seems to have worked better than expected.
