Inviting you to try Gold Spoon boat noodles at an easy-on-the-wallet price of just 20 baht per bowl, a standout shop fromNakhon Nayok ProvinceThe spirited senior vendors in their 70s sell for fun and have a steady stream of customers filling the shop
Against the trend of rising prices, we visit “Gold Spoon Boat Noodles” in Nakhon Nayok. This shop attracts customers not only with its price—just 20 baht a bowl—but also with exceptional flavor. The secret behind its popularity isn’t just the price but the energy of three lively senior vendors who work diligently together to prepare and serve the dishes.
The shop is located in Moo 3, Ban Nong Sakae, Phrommani Subdistrict, Mueang Nakhon Nayok. The atmosphere is charming, thanks to the three main pillars: 69-year-old Somchai (the owner), 61-year-old Thongyip, and 71-year-old Duangsi. They take turns preparing and serving—“one cooks while the other serves, then they switch”—creating a warm and heartening scene.
Somchai, the owner, said, “We’ve been open for over a year now. After retiring, I didn’t want to just stay home. Since Thongyip had a special boat noodle recipe, we invited some siblings and friends to open the shop together.”
When asked how they manage selling a bowl for just 20 baht during times of expensive pork and beef, Somchai happily replied, “We win the hearts of customers. Seeing them satisfied and eating multiple bowls brings us joy. Selling this way makes us happy; it’s better than just sitting around doing nothing.”
Customers unanimously say they come regularly because they love the tasty flavors, fresh pork and beef ingredients, and incredibly low prices. Many even order two or three bowls. Additionally, the shop offers some small homegrown vegetables for sale to take home.
If you pass through Nakhon Nayok and want delicious boat noodles at an affordable price, plus a dose of positive energy from these three lively seniors, be sure to stop by “Gold Spoon Boat Noodles.”
