A Weekly Meal Plan to Combat PM 2.5 Dust with Five-Colored Fruits and Vegetables

Five-colored fruits and vegetables are foods recommended by nutritionists to fight PM 2.5 dust because they boost immunity and combat free radicals. It is advised to consume at least 400 grams per day. We have prepared a seven-day meal plan featuring these lung-supporting, dust-fighting foods.

Day 1 emphasizes green fruits and vegetables that act as antioxidants.

Sulforaphane in broccoli helps cleanse PM 2.5 toxins from the lungs.

  • Morning: Fish rice porridge with shiitake mushrooms and cilantro.
  • Lunch: Stir-fried broccoli with fresh shrimp, using at least 200 grams of broccoli.
  • Dinner: Clear soup with ivy gourd leaves and minced pork.
  • Snack/Fruit: Guava or green apple.

Day 2 features orange and yellow fruits and vegetables that reduce inflammation.

They provide beta-carotene and carotenoids, which help prevent lung cancer.

  • Morning: Scrambled egg sandwich with carrot and tomato.
  • Lunch: Northern spicy noodle soup or Kaeng Liang with plenty of pumpkin.
  • Dinner: Stir-fried pumpkin with egg.
  • Snack/Fruit: Ripe papaya or pineapple.

Day 3 is an herbal lung detox day.

Using turmeric and oregano to reduce lung inflammation.

  • Morning: Boiled chicken with turmeric because curcumin in turmeric helps reduce lung toxins.
  • Lunch: Spaghetti with tomato sauce topped with oregano leaves to aid respiratory detox.
  • Dinner: Mixed mushroom salad, as white vegetables help boost immunity.
  • Snack/Fruit: White-fleshed dragon fruit.

Day 4 focuses on red and purple fruits and vegetables that fight cellular degeneration.

They provide lycopene and anthocyanin, antioxidants found in red fruits and vegetables.

  • Morning: Rice porridge with soft-boiled egg plus blended tomato juice.
  • Lunch: Fried rice with kale and tomatoes.
  • Dinner: Mixed vegetable salad with purple cabbage, cherry tomatoes, and sesame dressing.
  • Snack/Fruit: Purple grapes or rose apple.

Day 5 is Rainbow Day, combining all five colors.

Eat all colors in one day to ensure a full range of antioxidants.

  • Morning: Salad rolls wrapped in Vietnamese rice paper with carrot, cucumber, purple cabbage, and salad greens.
  • Lunch: Stir-fried wide rice noodles with kale, carrot, and baby corn.
  • Dinner: Mackerel chili paste with a large plate of boiled vegetables such as broccoli, carrot, cabbage, and long beans.
  • Snack/Fruit: Ripe mango or watermelon.

Day 6 is an immune-boosting day with white fruits and vegetables.

They contain flavonoids that reduce cancer cell division and inflammation.

  • Morning: Soy milk with Job's tears.
  • Lunch: Clear soup with radish and pork bones, including white fungus.
  • Dinner: Steamed fish with lime served with boiled Chinese cabbage.
  • Snack/Fruit: Namwa banana or pear.

Day 7 is a lung cleansing day with broccoli and oregano tea.

End the week by detoxifying PM 2.5 toxins again.

  • Morning: Pan-fried eggs with diced tomato and carrot.
  • Lunch: Stir-fried mixed vegetables focusing on broccoli as the main ingredient, with at least 200 grams per day.
  • Afternoon: Oregano tea made by steeping dried oregano leaves in warm water to help detoxify the lungs.
  • Dinner: Pumpkin soup or spinach soup.
  • Snack/Fruit: Pink-fleshed dragon fruit.

To effectively fight PM 2.5 dust, consume a total of at least 400 grams of fruits and vegetables daily (about 4-6 tablespoons) to build lung protection.

On high pollution days, try to consumebroccoliup to 200 grams because sulforaphane helps directly eliminate PM 2.5 dust. Also, alternating colors and types of fruits and vegetables, such as pumpkin one day and carrot the next, ensures a complete range of nutrients and prevents meal boredom.
