A hardworking vendor from Bangkok brings her family's special sticky rice with beef recipe to Satun City, with prices starting at 25 baht.
If you pass by Yattra Sawatdee Road in the area ofSatun Municipality,early in the morning, you'll be drawn to a tricycle surrounded by bustling customers. This is Mrs. Asama's Heavenly Beef Sticky Rice shop, catering to working adults and students during rush hours with a diverse menu full of flavor and affordable prices.
Mrs. Asama Pudpeng, the owner, shared that her journey began with the intention to adapt her father's Ayutthaya-style heavenly beef and sun-dried beef recipes and her mother's Bangkok-style flavors to suit her own taste. Starting with just a few sticky rice and beef dishes on the first day, she continuously developed new recipes. Today, the menu offers over 10 types of beef dishes, including heavenly beef, sun-dried beef, shredded beef, sweet beef, chili beef dip, garlic liver, fish sauce beef, and spicy beef salad. For those who don't eat beef, she also offers chicken and fish options.
The charm that keeps customers coming back is the soft sticky rice paired with fragrant beef, priced from just 25 baht per package, which includes one choice of topping. Additional servings can be added for 10 baht each.
Asama revealed that 13 years ago, when she first started selling door to door, she needed a lot of patience since people were not yet familiar with her food. However, her perseverance and focus on using fresh ingredients daily have led to a loyal customer base who now order 40-50 packages at a time. This success has allowed her to support her two children and proudly expect a new family member.
