Sriwan's Traditional Pork Noodles is a shop that offers a chance to experience the charm of the Baan Riew waterfront way of life, tasting a sweet and mellow broth with a heart-melting minced pork meatball recipe, priced at just 10 baht per bowl, special size 20 baht.
At the ancient Nakhon Nueang Khet Market in Chachoengsao Province, there is a very interesting traditional pork noodle shop with an incredible price: 10 baht for a regular bowl and 20 baht for a special one.
The owner, 69-year-old Aunt Sriwan, said the shop is located by the canal, giving it a wonderful atmosphere. The shop is in an old wooden house, adding to its classic and complete charm.
Aunt Sriwan said she has sold noodles for over 30 years. Prices started at 5 baht per bowl and only increased to 10 baht five years ago due to issues with making change. The reason for keeping the price low despite rising ingredient costs is that the shop is in her own home, so there is no rent. Importantly, she intends for it to be a signature feature of the ancient market, helping low-income people to fill their stomachs for just a few tens of baht, twenty baht at most.
Aunt Sriwan said the highlight that wins customers' hearts is the traditional broth recipe, which has a unique sweet and mellow flavor, especially the minced pork meatballs mixed into the broth that give it a rich taste.
Aunt Sriwan revealed that a regular customer from Bangkok once ordered 14 bowls at once because they loved the unique flavor found nowhere else. On weekdays, she uses about 5-6 kilograms of noodles, increasing to 10 kilograms per day on weekends.
For anyone wanting to try it, you can visit Aunt Sriwan's Noodle Shop at the ancient Nakhon Nueang Khet Market, Village 10, Khlong Nakhon Nueang Khet Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chachoengsao Province. The shop is open every day.
