Defying the rising cost of living in 2026, Bangpa’s beverage stall maintains a 20-baht price for the community, selling at the same rate to ease customers’ financial burdens.
Amid the bustling atmosphere near the Taba border in Tak Bai District, Narathiwat Province, scenes of customers lining up at a small tin-shed stall have become familiar, reflecting the trust in the taste of Yasmin Bangpa’s longtime beverage shop — a legendary local drink vendor standing firmly alongside the community for many years.
Although the 2026 economy is volatile and raw material costs continue to rise, the shop remains committed to selling every drink at only 20 baht, ensuring that locals and tourists alike can enjoy refreshing beverages at affordable prices.
Mr. Satopa Buraheang, known as Bangpa, the shop owner with decades of experience in drink-making, shared a touching story that this small tin-shed business has been the backbone supporting his four children through school and into secure employment.
Today, he still enjoys making drinks alongside his wife and daughter, with signature items including iced tea and iced black tea made from a special blend of tea powder, delivering a unique aroma and rich flavor. The stall sells no fewer than 600-700 cups daily and uses a massive 27 sacks of ice each day to meet customer demand from morning until closing in the evening.
The key to Yasmin Bangpa’s beloved status in Tak Bai lies in the decision not to raise prices despite costs for milk, sugar, and packaging increasing two to threefold. Bangpa said maintaining the 20-baht price is not just about retaining customers but about offering small happiness and easing the cost-of-living burden for fellow community members amid rising prices.
For anyone passing through Tak Bai District or heading to the Taba border market, this beverage stall is more than a place to cool down; it is a space that embodies the determination and generosity of local entrepreneurs, making it one of the most admirable spots in Narathiwat Province.
