When talking about a restaurant that offers not only delicious food but also beautiful spaces perfect for photo check-ins, becoming a new landmark in the province, the spotlight now falls on A. Kung Pao Garden Restaurant in Roi Et’s Thawat Buri district, known for its captivating slogan."Eat prawns, enjoy the lotus fields."
The atmosphere here is especially appealing. From an elevated view, you can see the lush green lotus fields stretching as far as the eye can see, contrasted with the large restaurant building. Visiting in the morning or at sunset creates a romantic ambiance, making it a popular check-in spot for both locals in Roi Et and tourists from other provinces.
The restaurant occupies over 10 rai of spacious land, accommodating more than 250 guests. The space is divided into three main zones: an air-conditioned dining area, an open-air zone by the lotus fields, a playground for children featuring plaster doll painting activities to enjoy while waiting for food, and a brand-new zone.“A. Cafe”A modern design cafe that opened in April, where guests can sip coffee with the unique experience of smelling the fragrant roasted beans before ordering, all while enjoying the full view of the lotus fields.
Another feature that brings smiles and excitement to customers is the use of"electric motorcycles"to deliver food. Staff skillfully ride these vehicles carrying trays directly to tables, creating a distinctive characteristic that leaves a strong impression.
When visiting A. Kung Pao, the must-order dish is grilled river prawns with firm, springy meat and rich prawn roe, served with the restaurant’s special seafood dipping sauce. This pairs perfectly with lotus leaf-wrapped jasmine rice made from Thung Kula fragrant rice stir-fried with flavorful fillings, wrapped in fresh lotus leaves. Additionally, there are spicy grouper fish head tom yum, squid stir-fried in black sauce, and curry powder squid dishes, all made from fresh ingredients sourced directly from southern Thailand. Finish the meal with desserts like ruby water chestnuts in fresh coconut milk and traditional coconut milk lod chong. The cafe side offers special matcha drinks, croissants, and homemade cakes.
Thanawat Phukongchana, the 36-year-old owner, said, “The restaurant has been open for 8 years under the A. Kung Pao chain, which has 18 branches across Isan. However, the Roi Et branch was designed to stand out by transforming the lotus field behind the restaurant into a relaxing space. This encouraged customers to share photos and spread word-of-mouth, creating a viral trend. It has changed from an ordinary restaurant into a comprehensive food tourism destination combining delicious food, a cafe, and family-friendly areas all in one place.”
Visitors to Roi Et who want to enjoy delicious food with million-baht views can visit daily from 10:00 to 22:00. The restaurant can accommodate everything from family meals to social gatherings. Currently, the restaurant is also participating in the“Thai Help Thai Plus”program as well.
