Baan Tiew Mai Giant Bowl Large Noodle Bowls for 80 Baht, One Bowl Serves 2-3 People

The giant noodle bowl shop has been open for 16 years in Uttaradit. The bowl has a diameter of 25 cm, allows customers to choose two types of noodles, features a Chinese herbal broth made from over 20 herbs, and lets customers add ingredients to fill the bowl to overflowing.

Noodles are typically a solo meal, ordered individually, quietly slurped, and then everyone goes their own way. But at Baan Tiew Mai Giant Bowl in Uttaradit, the huge noodle bowl transforms a single person's meal into a dish for the whole table.

"Baan Tiew Mai Giant Bowl" is located in Village 3, Tha Sao Subdistrict, Mueang District, Uttaradit Province, near the Di Udom traffic light intersection on Suan Phak Alley. It has been operating for 16 years, with its signature giant noodle bowl measuring about 25 centimeters in diameter.

Phaili Matcharan, or Pae, 56, the owner, said she used to work in Bangkok but wanted her own business. She quit her job and returned to her hometown. Being a noodle lover, she opened the shop and developed the recipe until it became a landmark for noodle lovers in the province.

The fun part of this shop is that customers can create their own noodle bowl by choosing two types of noodles in one bowl, including thin rice noodles, white rice noodles, yellow egg noodles, glass noodles, instant noodles, or wide rice noodles. The bowl is served with a special ancient Chinese herbal broth made from over 20 herbs. Ingredients can be added freely, such as large boiled meatballs, sliced Vietnamese pork sausage, stewed chicken feet, stewed chicken drumsticks, dried wontons, shredded chicken, soft-boiled eggs, minced pork, ground pork, and pork cracklings.

There are various broth styles available, including clear broth, Nam Tok (spicy beef broth), Yen Ta Fo (pink seafood broth), Yen Ta Fo Tom Yum, stewed chicken, stewed pork, stewed beef, and fresh beef.

The highlight signature dishes are the large Tom Yum Yen Ta Fo noodle set and the large Khao Soi set, both priced at 80 baht. The owner said one large bowl can satisfy 2-3 people, making it suitable for friends and families. For solo diners, a regular bowl is available for 40 baht, with ingredients adjusted according to bowl size.

Baan Tiew Mai Giant Bowl is open daily from 09:00 to 16:00. Anyone passing through Tha Sao Subdistrict who wants to try a giant bowl big enough to share with the whole table can stop by or call 091-712-0927 for directions.
