Located in Satun province, the Grilled Fragrant Sandwich shop uses a technique of dipping bread in milk before grilling it with butter on low heat. They offer 11 filling choices starting at 10 baht.
In front of Piman Pittayasarn School, Mueang District, Satun Province, from 5 p.m. onward, a food cart is set up with small chairs for customers waiting. The cart sells grilled sandwiches starting at 10 baht for single fillings and 15 baht for mixed fillings.
Ms. Bussakorn Sammania, the owner, said the Grilled Fragrant Sandwich shop has been selling for about two months. Previously, she and her partner had regular jobs but wanted extra income to support their family. The idea began when she often bought durian from a friend selling in front of the school. After chatting, the friend invited her to sell together. She then searched YouTube for ideas and found grilled sandwiches, which no one in the area was selling yet.
She then studied the preparation method, bought equipment, and started selling. The process begins by placing fillings inside bread slices, cutting them in half, then dipping in milk before grilling. During grilling, butter is applied and cooked over low heat. The milk dip and low heat grilling create the sandwich's signature crispy outside and soft inside texture, which keeps customers returning and is the most popular aspect.
The shop offers 11 fillings. Single fillings priced at 10 baht include strawberry, blueberry, and pandan leaf. Mixed fillings priced at 15 baht include spinach with cheese, crab stick with mayonnaise, Nutella with golden threads, and spicy shredded chicken with chili paste.
Considering the preparation involves several steps—dipping in milk, buttering, and slow grilling over low heat—the time per sandwich adds to the seller’s cost. Despite this, the shop chooses to offer affordable prices starting at 10 baht.
The Grilled Fragrant Sandwich shop is open every day except Sunday. Advance orders can be made at 080-926-2763.
