Khaosan Songkran 2025: Event Dates, Water Play Hours, and Restrictions

Khaosan Road is one of the most important landmarks for the Songkran festival, well-known among both Thai people and international tourists for many years. For Songkran 2025 at Khaosan, the Thairath Online photography team has gathered colorful images and scenes to share the fun and lively atmosphere.

For Songkran 2025, Khaosan Road is hosting the event under the name 'Khao San World Water Festival 2025' from 13 to 15 April 2025, between 14:00 and 22:00. The road will be closed from the Banglamphu intersection to the alley beside the old lottery office.

The vibrant Songkran festival at Khaosan Road 2025 continues to be bustling with Thai and foreign tourists of all ages, all carrying water guns ranging from small to large sizes, as well as cans or bags containing white powder (talcum). Many areas are densely packed with large crowds.

However, there are certain prohibitions for water play during Songkran at Khaosan Road that should be observed:

  • Use of powder is prohibited.
  • High-pressure water guns are not allowed.
  • Only clean water is to be used for water play.
  • Attire should be modest and not overly revealing.

For this year's Songkran, Bangkok has enhanced safety measures by deploying a comprehensive AI CCTV camera system in Khaosan Road and Silom Road areas to ensure the security of residents and tourists.

There are 180 cameras installed in the water play area on Khaosan Road and 120 on Silom Road, equipped with face recognition technology to monitor people passing by. The system provides clear observation from normal and aerial views at key points, especially at entry screening areas.

Moreover, the system can input specific faces to enable AI to search and identify locations where those individuals appear. The recorded footage is sent to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) to cross-check with the Royal Thai Police database for any suspects with outstanding warrants. If necessary, coordination with local police allows rapid response units to detain the individuals.
