Thairath Poll Reveals Over 40% of Thais Visit Convenience Stores Weekly

A Thairath poll surveyed the spending habits of 3,903 Thais in convenience stores from 11-17 Jul 2025 GMT+7. It found that over 40% visit convenience stores at least 1-3 times per week, and nearly 60% spend primarily on food and beverages. 7-Eleven is the most frequently used convenience store among Thais.
This poll examined a sample of Thai consumer spending behavior over one week via an online survey on Thairath's website network, yielding the following interesting insights.
The first question asked about the frequency of visits to convenience stores, revealing that
- 40.98% visit 1-3 times per week.
- Next, 21.85% reported visiting every day.
- Then, 17.83% visit 4-6 times per week.
- Some respondents, 15.44%, said they did not go at all.
- About 3.90% said they visit multiple times a day.
The second question asked about the typical amount spent per visit, finding that
- 34.40% spend between 101-200 baht each time.
- 33.52% spend 51-100 baht per visit.
- 13.44% spend 201-400 baht.
- 12.61% spend less than 50 baht.
- 6.03% spend more than 400 baht per visit.
Purchases of food and beverages are notably popular.
The third question asked which product categories are purchased most often at convenience stores, including
- Food and drinks such as milk, coffee, and tea, accounting for 58.78%.
- Snacks and sweets, at 16.16%.
- Other items, about 12.23%.
- Personal care products like soap and toothpaste, 9.00%.
- Alcohol, at 3.83%.
Regarding the most frequently visited convenience store,
- 7-Eleven leads with 75.56%.
- Other stores account for 7.57%.
- CJ Express is visited by approximately 6.56%.
- Lotus’s go fresh accounts for 5.42%.
- Mini Big C is at about 2.84%.
- Tops Daily has 2.06%.
