Two Major Media Giants, Thairath Group and ThaiPBS, Join Forces to Aid Southern Flood Victims

On 1 Dec 2025 GMT+7, following the major flooding in southern Thailand, two major Thai media giants united their efforts. Thairath Group joined hands with ThaiPBS to deploy the legendary "Green Giant" newspaper delivery truck to help transport donations from Thai citizens nationwide who came together to assist southern communities, ensuring aid reached flood victims quickly.

All donated items included rice, dried food, medicines, and many essential supplies, contributed generously by Thai people from all directions—government, private sector, and the public—who continuously donated through ThaiPBS.

Thairath Group stepped in to support this mission by using the six-wheeled "Green Giant" truck to transport donations from Bangkok to flood-affected areas in the south. The truck left Bangkok at 16:00 and was expected to arrive at the Office of the NBTC Region 4 around 09:00 the next day.

“Thank you to Thairath. Since the disaster in Hat Yai began, we have been mobilizing aid daily to send to our southern brothers and sisters. After a week, massive donations have arrived, and although we dispatch aid daily, we face a shortage of transport vehicles. I called Thairath to kindly request assistance in transporting donated goods from ThaiPBS to deliver to flood victims in Hat Yai,” he said.

Mr. Wanchai Tantivitayapitak, Director of ThaiPBS Television Station, expressed gratitude to Thairath Group for helping deliver donations directly to southern flood victims.

Mr. Pranot Wilepsuwan, Television Content Executive at Thairath TV, stated that as a media organization, besides reporting news to keep the public informed, an important role is also assisting people, which elevates professional standards in the media industry.

“This is a good start with two media organizations collaborating to help the public and civil society, leveraging each agency’s strengths. ThaiPBS established a War Room for the public since the first day of reporting. Thairath Group, with television, newspapers, online platforms, and a newspaper delivery logistics system, used their newspaper trucks to pick up donations from ThaiPBS and deliver them to people in Hat Yai. We hope other media colleagues will also mobilize their resources to help as much as possible. This is a positive beginning, and in the future, all media workers, regardless of their organization, should unite during crises to provide aid to Thai people as quickly as possible.”

Besides partnering with ThaiPBS, Thairath Group has continuously supported the "Green Giant" six-wheeled truck to transport aid from Bangkok to southern flood-affected areas. They collaborated with various parties including actors and foundations such as the Mirror Foundation and the Thairath Foundation to deliver aid to Thairath Wittaya schools.

On 26 Nov 2025 GMT+7, Mrs. Napath, Koi, Natty, Dream, and Namhom contacted Thairath to request help transporting drinking water, electrolytes, and other supplies to assist residents in La-ngu District, Satun Province. Thairath Group dispatched one "Green Giant" truck that departed on 26 Nov and arrived in Satun early on 27 Nov.

On 28 Nov 2025 GMT+7, aid continued when Mrs. Napath coordinated through Jackerin, a Thairath entertainment news anchor, to request help transporting a fiberglass boat to assist flood victims in Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province. The boat was delivered to the Border Patrol Police Region 4, and Thairath Group sent a six-wheeled "Green Giant" truck to transport it. The truck departed on 28 Nov and arrived in Songkhla early on 29 Nov.

Additionally, Thairath collaborated with the Mirror Foundation to deploy the "Green Giant" truck to bolster urgent flood relief transportation. Thairath Group has continuously transported supplies to support the Mirror Foundation’s flood victim recovery efforts. On 2 Dec, Thairath Group sent a large six-wheeled "Green Giant" truck to assist in the first round of aid delivery.

Thairath Group also partnered with the Thairath Foundation to deliver survival kits to assist students, teachers, and parents at eight Thairath Wittaya schools across five provinces: Satun, Trang, Songkhla, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Phatthalung. The shipment was expected to depart around 4 Dec. In addition, they provided emergency funding to Thairath Wittaya School in Yala to purchase survival kits. The Thairath Foundation prepared a total of 1,500 survival kits, ten 7-liter rice cookers for emergency community kitchens, and 1,000 packs of bottled water (12 bottles per pack), helping 1,360 families or over 5,000 people.

Further reports from the team will continue to cover ongoing aid efforts to flood victims in subsequent rounds.
