
The 2025 SEA Games ( SEA Games ) or the 33rd SEA Games have officially begun, with the opening ceremony scheduled for Tuesday, 9 December 2025. This is Southeast Asia's most popular sports event, where fans will enjoy vibrant cheering atmospheres, foster cooperation among member countries, and provide new athletes the chance to shine on the international stage.
For the grand opening of the 33rd SEA Games, or SEA Games 2025, hosted by Thailand, the ceremony will be held at Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok on 9 December at 7:00 p.m. It will be broadcast live on NBT, PPTV HD 36, T SPORT 7, and TrueVision Now.
A highlight of the 2025 SEA Games opening ceremony is the appearance of the famous Thai artist BamBam-Kantapimuk Phuvakulkul, a member of the band GOT7, along with many other artists. The torch lighter for the ceremony will be Panipak Wongpattanakit, a former Thai female taekwondo athlete and two-time Olympic gold medalist.
The 33rd SEA Games, or 2025 SEA Games, will be held from 9 to 20 December 2025, with Thailand hosting for the seventh time.
The venues for the 2025 SEA Games will be in Bangkok and Chonburi Province. Originally, some events were planned for Songkhla Province, but due to flooding in Hat Yai, Songkhla, some sports were relocated to Bangkok and Chonburi.
There are 11 participating countries in the 33rd SEA Games (SEA Games 2025), all members of ASEAN:

The 2025 SEA Games will feature 50 sports plus 3 demonstration sports, ranging from standard international and Olympic sports to traditional regional games. These include badminton, archery, athletics, baseball, amateur boxing, golf, esports, gymnastics, sailing, sepak takraw, shooting, taekwondo, weightlifting, volleyball, and more. This edition is considered one of the most challenging and exciting in ASEAN history, with athletes competing for a total of 574 gold medals.
However, the 2025 SEA Games represent a significant milestone for ASEAN sports, showcasing the collaborative strength and full potential of athletes from all countries. The host for the 34th SEA Games will be " Malaysia, " which will organize the event on a grand scale in 2027.
