How to Register for Early Voting in the 2026 Election: Steps and Requirements

An easy-to-understand guide on how to register for early voting in 2026 for those unable to vote on the actual election day or with urgent commitments. This manual covers registration for early voting both inside and outside the district, as well as abroad.

Mark the important date for the 2026 election: 8 Feb 2026 is election day. Prepare your ID card and vote using the two-ballot system from 08:00 to 17:00.

Early voting registration is open from 20 December 2025 to 5 January 2026, and early voting will take place on 1 February 2026 from 08:00 to 17:00.

Who is eligible to register for early voting in 2026?

  • People away from home: Those residing outside the electoral district where they are registered.
  • Recent movers: Those who have recently changed their household registration to the current district less than 90 days before election day.
  • People living abroad: Those with permanent residence outside the Kingdom of Thailand.
  • Government officials: Those ordered to perform duties outside their district or on election day, making it impossible to vote normally.

Methods for registering for early voting in 2026.

  • Type 1: Early voting "outside the district" and "abroad".

This group can register through four channels:

  • Type 2: Early voting "within the electoral district".

This group cannot register online and must proceed as follows:

Those eligible include government officials or personnel ordered to work on election day or those with urgent travel reasons. They can submit their registration in person (or by proxy) or by mail, attaching official orders or certification proving they cannot vote on the actual day.

How to register for early voting in 2026 using the Smart Vote app.

  • Select the menu: If outside the district, choose “MP Election” > “Outside Electoral District” > “Online Registration.” If abroad, select “Outside the Kingdom” > “Online Registration.”
  • Enter your information: National ID number, back of ID card number (Laser ID), full name, birthdate, 11-digit household code (or passport for those abroad).
  • Verify and choose location: The system will display your current data; select the province and convenient location to vote.
  • Confirm: Press to confirm registration and capture or save the confirmation screen as proof.

Documents required (for in-person or postal submission):

  • Registration application form (Form S.S.1/7 for those abroad).
  • Copy of ID card (or government ID/license with photo and 13-digit number) certified true copy.
  • For those abroad, a copy of the passport is acceptable.

After registering, remember to verify your information again atthe voter eligibility verification system.If you know you will be unable to vote in your home district on 1 February 2026 or on election day, promptly download the Smart Vote app or visit the website to register before 5 January 2026.
