Behind the Scenes of an (Almost) Unborn Idea: Highlights of BKKDW2026 at Seacon Square Srinakarin

Seacon Square opens 2026 with a major project at Bangkok Design Week 2026, transforming the 'Mun Mun Srinakarin' zone into a creative idea testing space, presenting 32 exhibitions from prominent partners such as CEA and BACC, available for viewing through April.

Check out the highlights of the exhibition “Ideas That Were Folded Away.”

This year's event features an intriguing theme focusing on the "thinking process" and "ideas that nearly came to life," showing what it takes to create a finished work.

1. U/N (Unfinished Ideas) Exhibition

Collects concepts that were once shelved, waiting for the right time, transforming them into experiences through visuals and sound.

  • UN-Seed zone: Simulates the split-second moment when an idea sparks in the brain using a light box.
  • UN-Form zone: Immersive digital art where visitors can interact with the shapes of ideas.
  • UN-Select zone: A storage space preserving ideas awaiting future implementation.

2. UNSEEN SCENE: Behind the Viral Events

For those who have seen Seacon Square’s famous social media events, this zone reveals behind-the-scenes work, from setting challenges to ideas that were rejected, reflecting that every thought has value even if not chosen at the time. This is part of the main theme DESIGN S/O/S – Design, Make/For/Survive.

This exhibition does not just showcase successes but "honors every idea that died to allow the real work to happen." The Smood Event Creation team, behind Seacon Square’s events, unveils for the first time the behind-the-scenes concepts that once went viral online and the nearly realized ideas of Seacon Square Srinakarin and Seacon Bangkae shopping centers.

List of 6 notable partner brands

In addition to the main exhibition, there are many showcases from partners.

  • CEA: Presents an Immersive Microgame “Players from Home” turning solo play into an opportunity to meet new people.
  • BACC pop-up: Exhibition “Talap Grab” invites a look back at communication from the telegraph era to the Grab app.
  • GROUNDCONTROL: Showcases the power of “fandom,” not just as artist following but as a culture that heals the mind.
  • Happening: “Memories of Skin” exhibits tattoo art from seven leading artists.
  • HOP (Hub of Photography): Photo exhibition “SAME SKY” invites viewers to see the sky from different perspectives.
  • Bangkok University (STUX2 X ArchBU X BEILAB): Features unusual designs like a transparent bedroom and a narrow, long toilet that challenge building codes and beliefs.

The event runs from 29 January to 19 April 2026 on floors 1 and 2 of the Mun Mun Srinakarin zone at Seacon Square.
