Resident Evil Requiem became a major success in the franchise by reaching 5 million copies sold just five days after release, making it the fastest-selling title ever in the Resident Evil series. It surpassed previous records held by all entries, including Resident Evil 2 Remake, which remains the best-selling in the series with 16.8 million copies but only sold 3 million in its first week.
A key factor behind Resident Evil Requiem’s rapid success was its simultaneous release across four platforms—PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch 2—right from day one.
On Steam, Resident Evil Requiem peaked at 344,124 concurrent players over the past weekend, ranking it among the platform’s all-time Top 40 concurrent player counts.
Industry experts suggest Resident Evil Requiem’s success stems from Capcom skillfully leveraging its strengths, such as featuring Leon S. Kennedy as the lead character alongside newcomer Grace Ashcroft.
