Capcom has revealed that Resident Evil Requiem has set a new record by selling 5 millioncopieswithin just 5 days of its launch
Resident Evil Requiem has become a major success in the franchise, achieving sales of 5 million copies within just 5 days of release. This makes RE Requiem the fastest-selling title ever in the Resident Evil series, surpassing the previous records of all past entries. Even Resident Evil 2 Remake, which holds the franchise's all-time best-seller title with 16.8 million copies, only sold 3 million copies in its first week.
A key factor behind Resident Evil Requiem's rapid success was its simultaneous release on four platforms: PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch 2 from day one.
Meanwhile, Steam statistics show a peak of 344,124 concurrent players for Resident Evil Requiem over the past weekend, ranking it among the platform’s all-time top 40 concurrent user counts.
Gaming experts attribute Resident Evil Requiem’s success to Capcom’s effective combination of strengths, such as featuring Leon S. Kennedy as the lead character alongside the new character Grace Ashcroft.
At the same time, the game offers a familiar playstyle that many fans appreciate, allowing players to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives, while maintaining freshness through a storyline that emphasizes horror elements reminiscent of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village.
