Invitation to Death Fest 2026: Discussing Death While Still Alive to Design a Final Chapter True to the Heart

Many people may see"death"as a topic that should not be discussed. But in reality, preparing for death in advance is the greatest act of love we can offer ourselves and those around us, so as not to leave behind confusion and emotional burdens.

All of these are the reasons why the Death Fest 2026: re-member Before–Aging–Illness–Death returns grandly as the annual fair inviting everyone to design their final life chapter according to their true wishes through activities, talks, and workshops that transform fear into understanding.

"Why is talking about death important?" The main theme of this year's event is"re-member."This arises from the belief that a good death is not just an individual's matter but involves everyone around them. End-of-life planning can truly happen only when we communicate our wishes clearly so others understand.

This event is a collaboration between Peaceful Death, The Cloud, Choojai and Kalyanamitr, and leading health organizations such as the Thai Health Promotion Foundation (สสส.), aiming to transform the fair into something likea "life library."It creates a space for everyone to learn about the realities of life from an accessible perspective—not just by viewing exhibitions but by using art to unlock deep conversations, making us realize that by bravely facing death, we can live more meaningfully in the present.

Five highlight zones inside Death Fest 2026

Comprehensive care for body and mind: the event is divided into five main zones, starting with Old School—a classroom for life theory and patient care practice; followed by Before I Die—an exhibition revealing heartfelt thoughts before the last day; then Human Life-brary Cafe—a human library cafe where people gather to hear stories about good living and dying from diverse individuals; next is Life Journey—a booth offering support services throughout life's path from illness to the final stage; and concluding with Friends Eat—a space featuring delicious food to share with loved ones before passing.

Prepare your heart before entering Death Fest, because discussing death is delicate. Suay-Wanna Jarusomboon, chairperson of Peaceful Death, offers these tips for readiness before attending:

Check your feelings honestly: Ask yourself what you deeply worry about regarding life—fear of pain, concern for those left behind, or uncertainty about being alone. Straightforwardly exploring these feelings is the starting point for mindful preparation.

Set goals before coming: The event offers varied content. Setting goals in advance, such as wanting to create a comfort journal or understand medical advance directives, helps you make the most of your time and get precise answers.

Prepare your body and mind: Some content may affect you more emotionally than expected. Review the schedule beforehand, plan a relaxed visit, and allow yourself time to rest and reflect so learning happens without rush.

Bring important people along: Death is not a matter for one person alone. Inviting family or close friends to learn together opens space for conversations that may never have happened before and makes end-of-life planning more feasible.

Gently introduce the topic to those who come with you: The key is open, non-judgmental listening. Informing them in advance that you will explore a difficult topic but won’t face it alone helps turn their worries into understanding.

Certainly, preparing for death does not shorten life but makes the remaining days more meaningful. The event will be held on 13-15 March 2026, from 09:00 to 19:00, at IMPACT Exhibition Hall 6, Muang Thong Thani (free admission) justregister in advancehere. More details can be followed on the Death Fest Facebook page.
