Reporters say that at the 2026 World Conference and Annual Meeting of InterPride in Phuket Province, Thailand received significant good news as Bangkok entered the final selection process (Finalist) to host WorldPride 2030. Thailand will compete against formidable rivals Barcelona, Spain, and London, England.
This initial success resulted from the combined efforts of civil society and LGBTQ+ networks led by Bangkok Pride, the Foundation for Sexual Rights and Justice (FOR-SOGI), the Thai Transgender Alliance for Human Rights (ThaiTGA), and event organizing networks./Pride/Thailand (Thai Pride Network)
Waddao Arnan Chumaporn, Chairperson and Founder of Nareemit Pride Co., Ltd., revealed that although competitors include globally renowned cities like London and Barcelona, Thailand is excited and ready to demonstrate its potential. Meanwhile, Ratee Taesombat from ThaiTGA added that the next challenge is to confirm readiness to support transgender, non-binary, and intersex individuals worldwide. Efforts are underway to promote a draft law recognizing gender identity to make Thailand a truly safe space for everyone.
