How to Use the Thai Chuey Thai Plus 2569 Benefit on BTS, MRT, and Public Transport: Scanning the Paotang App Correctly

The Thai Chuey Thai Plus 2569 program has started! Here’s how to use the benefit on BTS, MRT, BMTA buses, and public transport via the Paotang app with a 60% government subsidy. Check the steps and key conditions here so you don’t miss out.

The 2569 economic stimulus program "Thai Chuey Thai Plus 60/40" is officially available for citizens to ease living costs. The program runs from 1 June to 30 September 2026. This time, the government covers 60% of expenses while citizens pay 40%, with a daily cap of 200 baht and a monthly maximum of 1,000 baht.

The program’s special feature is its full coverage of public transport to help reduce travel costs for city dwellers and interprovincial travelers. Payments can be made via the "Paotang" app (G-Wallet) between 06:00 and 23:00 daily. Thairath Online has summarized the steps to use Thai Chuey Thai Plus with various public transit systems as follows.

How to use Thai Chuey Thai Plus with electric trains (BTS, MRT, ARL, Red Line, and Gold Line)

Currently, eight electric train lines participate in the program: BTS, Gold Line, MRT (Blue, Purple, Yellow, Pink lines), Airport Rail Link (ARL), and the Red Line commuter train. Payment steps are as follows.

Steps to pay for electric train fares

  1. Top up your G-Wallet in the "Paotang" app with enough money to cover your 40% share.
  2. Open the "Paotang" app and go to the "Thai Chuey Thai Plus 60/40" project menu.
  3. Tap the "Scan QR to use benefit" button.
  4. Ask the staff at the ticket counter to scan the QR code from their device (Note: scanning at ticket vending machines is not allowed).
  5. Check the co-payment amount, then confirm and enter your 6-digit PIN.
  6. Receive your ticket and proceed with your journey immediately.

Key conditions for electric train users

  • This benefit applies only to single-journey tickets/cards for the general public and seniors.
  • It cannot be used to top up or reload Mangmoom cards, MRT EMV cards, or Rabbit Cards.
  • You cannot buy tokens to use on another day or purchase return tickets in advance.
  • Tickets purchased cannot be refunded in cash under any circumstance.
  • The benefit does not cover fines (e.g., overstaying in the system) or MRT parking fees.

Steps to pay for BMTA buses and BKS intercity buses.

For passengers traveling by bus within Bangkok and interprovincial routes, here are the usage guidelines.

1. BMTA buses

The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) accepts fare payments on all bus types via the Paotang app.

  • How to use: Inform the fare collector of your destination stop, then open the Paotang app, tap the project banner, select "Scan QR to use benefit," scan the QR code on the staff’s Thung Ngern device, and confirm by entering your 6-digit PIN.

2. BKS intercity buses

The Transport Company Limited (BKS) is part of the program, allowing passengers to use the benefit when buying tickets at 139 BKS counters nationwide.

  • Additional conditions: The benefit can be used to purchase tickets of any standard and route and can be combined with BKS Member discounts (5-10%).
  • If the ticket price exceeds the 200 baht daily government subsidy or your remaining balance, passengers must pay the difference by cash or G-Wallet deduction.
  • If purchasing for someone else, you must provide the traveler’s name and ID number before issuing the ticket. Tickets bought with this benefit are non-refundable.

  • Taxis, motorcycle taxis, vans, songthaews, and tuk-tuks: Citizens can use the benefit if the service providers are registered in the program and have the "Thung Ngern" app, by scanning to pay upon reaching the destination.
  • Chao Phraya express boats: Tickets can be purchased at normal rates by scanning at participating piers.

Precautions: Thai Chuey Thai Plus vs. State Welfare Card on electric buses (TSB)

Some users may confuse the "Thai Chuey Thai Plus" benefit with the "State Welfare Card" when using the Thai Smile Bus (TSB). System checks reveal these limitations.

  • The Thai Smile Bus accepts payment via the State Welfare Card by tapping the ID card on the bus’s EDC machine.
  • However, those using the "Thai Chuey Thai Plus 60/40" benefit (general public) cannot yet pay by scanning on Thai Smile buses because this program requires payment via the Thung Ngern app per transaction, which the bus system does not currently support.

The government’s 1,000 baht monthly subsidy expires at the end of each month; unused balances cannot be carried over. Therefore, public transport users should plan their monthly travel carefully to maximize the 60/40 benefit during the four-month program.
