Typhoon Bavi (BAVI) refers to a mountain range in northern Vietnam. The name is Vietnamese, and Vietnam proposed it to the tropical cyclone naming list of the typhoon committee.

The word"Bavi"comes from the name of Ba Vì National Park which is a famous national park in northern Vietnam, located not far from Hanoi. It is a rich natural area and a popular tourist destination in the country.

According to the latest assessment by the Meteorological Department, the center of Typhoon Bavi will not enter Thailand but will pass north of Taiwan before making landfall on the eastern coast of Fujian Province, China, around 11-12 July 2026.
