Almost everyone has a small red number lingering on the corner of an icon on their phone, indicating unread messages and unopened notifications. If you look at the bookshelf by your bed, that number might exist there too, in the form of books you've bought but haven't yet unwrapped.
The 31st National Book Expo, or BOOK EXPO THAILAND 2026, plays on this feeling with the theme “Unread Messages” and the concept "You have a new message"
What’s interesting about this year’s theme is that it doesn’t simply encourage “readers” to buy more books. Instead, it asks us to consider that books on the shelf, unread, are like unopened messages: someone is trying to say something to us, but we haven’t listened yet.
There are 94 days left before the event starts—enough time to clear out old unread piles or at least prepare money to build new ones. That red number on the icon won’t disappear easily.
For travel to the 31st National Book Expo, organizers recommend taking the Blue Line MRT to Queen Sirikit National Convention Center Station, Exit 3, then walking through the connecting tunnel directly to the venue.
The 31st National Book Expo will be held from 23 October to 1 November 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, with free admission.
