Bangkok Invites All Thai Citizens to Annual Free Health Checkup at 12 City Hospitals and Mobile Units

Bangkok invites all Thaicitizens with any medical entitlementto receive a free annual health checkup through the BKK Wellness Clinic at 12 affiliated hospitals and mobile service units, aiming to serve 1 million people.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) continues its sustainable health promotion and disease prevention policy by advancing a free annual health checkup project via the BKK Wellness Clinic service. The goal is to cover 1 million residents in Bangkok. All Thai citizens with any healthcare entitlement—whether the universal coverage scheme, social security, or civil servant benefits—can access free health screenings.

What health screenings are included for free?

The annual health checkup under this project covers screening for major silent health threats, including the following services:

  • General health screening: measuring vital signs and assessing body mass index.
  • Laboratory tests: blood tests to check sugar levels, lipids, and liver/kidney function.
  • Radiology and heart exams: chest X-ray and electrocardiogram (EKG).
  • Complication checks: diabetic retinopathy screening.
  • Personalized cancer screening: cervical cancer and colorectal cancer screenings provided based on individual risk levels.

Four recommendations and preparations before your health checkup

To ensure accurate results and a smooth process, the BMA Health Division advises the following four preparations:

  1. Register in advance: make an appointment and register via the “BMA Doctor” app.
  2. Fasting: avoid all food and drink for 8–12 hours prior to the checkup.
  3. Prepare documents: bring your original ID card to present at registration.
  4. Dress appropriately: wear comfortable clothes and avoid underwire bras due to the electrocardiogram (EKG) examination.

Proactive health screening services and mobile units reaching communities

Besides hospital-based services, BMA also operates proactive mobile health units in various communities to increase public access to healthcare. These include:

  • Mobile women’s cancer screening van.
  • Mobile dental unit.
  • Mobile X-ray unit.
  • Mobile retinal screening unit with free reading glasses distribution.
