The Thai film industry is gearing up for a lively return with "Open Thai Screen: Driving Culture S.O.S SIAM ON SCREEN," a major Thai film festival held in the city center. Supported by the Department of Cultural Promotion, Ministry of Culture, it aims to promote and advance the Thai film industry as a key tool for cultural dissemination, while building a strong ecosystem connecting government, filmmakers, and the public.

The event will run for three full days, from 11 to 13 September 2026, at the Semi Outdoor zone on the Ground Floor of Samyan Mitrtown, creating an accessible space to raise awareness and inspire younger generations to take pride in Thai culture through film media.

Short film contest with 180,000 baht in prize money

Beyond screenings, exhibitions, and activities, the event opens a platform for young people to tell Thai stories in their own style through the "SIAM ON SCREEN" short film competition for university students, offering a total prize of 180,000 baht plus trophies.

Contestants must express perspectives, creativity, and the charm of Thailand through one or a combination of five main themes:

  2. Environment & Sustainability
  3. Thai Culinary & Food Culture
  4. Thai Fashion & Textiles
  5. Folklore & Local Tradition

Interested participants can submit entries individually or as teams of 2-5 people from now until 8 September 2026.
