Chud Thai (Traditional Thai Dress), a living heritage from the past to the eyes of the world.
The Department of Cultural Promotion, together with the Faculty of Communication Arts at Chulalongkorn University, invites the public to join the fashion show, panel discussions, and an exhibition of pride called "Woven Through Time". This event presents the journey of fabric, craftsmanship, and wearing traditions developed over hundreds of years. It offers an opportunity for those enchanted by Thai textiles to create a phenomenon before Thai costume is submitted for UNESCO consideration later this year.
Exhibitions and panel discussions that delve into every fiber.
The event is packed with engaging activities, starting with the "Woven Through Time" exhibition decoding eight royal-style Thai costume designs and three royal-gifted garments, along with two panel discussion sessions: the first, "Tracing Time Through Attire," recounts the journey from traditional wrap cloths to royal Thai costumes.(This part is incomplete and ambiguous; likely the ending of the word "royal costume" from the previous part.)The second session, "Every Fiber Tells a Story," explores Thai textile craftsmanship that surpasses the limits of silk and cotton fabrics.
Fashion show highlights: four costume sets and a Free Walk runway for everyone.
The presentation of Thai costume beauty is expressed through four fashion show performances: "Definition of Elegance," "Thai Costume for Everyone," "New Generation Wearing Thai in Our Style," and "Diverse Fibers, One Heritage: 1,300 Years from Dvaravati to Rattanakosin."
An unmissable highlight is the Free Walk runway during the finale, allowing all attendees to bring traditional Thai costumes, regional Thai outfits, or even mix and match Thai fabrics with jeans in their own style to walk the fashion show live, demonstrating the power of Thai fabric enthusiasts.
Special activities: 360-degree photo booth and souvenirs.
Besides stage content and entertainment, the event offers a private 360-degree video booth and free fabric decoration services. As a special offer for attendees, those who post photos of the event with hashtags #ChudThai #ชุดไทย #ถักทอกาลเวลา can receive exclusive souvenirs immediately.
Those interested can join "Woven Through Time" on Sunday, 4 October 2026, from 12:00 to 19:00 at the ground floor activity area of Samyan Mitrtown, free of charge, or watch the live broadcast via the Facebook pages of the Department of Cultural Promotion and the Faculty of Communication Arts, Chulalongkorn University.
"Woven Through Time" marks an important milestone linking valuable cultural heritage with modern lifestyles perfectly. It reaffirms that "Chud Thai" is not merely historical attire but a living heritage that everyone can proudly continue to wear and preserve in every era.
