Benefits employees receive from the Compensation Fund

When a work-related incident occurs, employees are protected in four main areas as follows:

Medical expenses Paid according to actual costs as regulated, starting at 50,000 baht and up to the maximum in severe cases.

Monthly compensation In cases of work stoppage, loss of organs, disability, or death, employees receive 70% of their monthly wage, capped at a set ceiling.

Funeral expenses Paid when an employee dies due to work-related causes, currently set at 50,000 baht.

Rehabilitation costs Provided when physical rehabilitation or vocational training is needed after injury.


Who pays into the Compensation Fund?

The employer is solely responsible for paying contributions; employees do not pay at all.

When is coverage effective? It applies when incidents occur due to work, protecting the interests of employers or as directed by them.

Who manages the fund? The Social Security Office oversees it but keeps separate accounts from the regular social security fund.

Differences between Social Security and the Compensation Fund

Social Security under Section 33 Covers general illness, childbirth, unemployment, or old age (contributions shared by employee, employer, and government).

Compensation Fund Used only for work-related injuries, such as a finger cut by machinery or accidents during delivery to customers, with the employer paying 100% of contributions.

In summary, use the Social Security card for general illness, but report work-related injuries to claim the Compensation Fund benefits.

Who is eligible for rehabilitation? To receive services, employees must meet the following basic qualifications:

1. Be at least 15 years old.

2. Be an employee diagnosed with injury or illness caused by work, according to the Compensation Act B.E. 2537 (1994).

3. Have physical condition sufficient to perform basic daily activities (e.g., eating or moving), be mentally alert and communicative, and have disabilities that can be improved through rehabilitation.

4. Not be a drug addict or suffer from severe contagious or dangerous diseases.


Application locations and service points  

Required documents for rehabilitation center services:

1. Rehabilitation application form (Form KFP.31301).

2. Medical documents: Forms KK.16 and KK.8, copies of medical records, and X-ray films.
