Facebook Redesigned to Resemble Instagram More Closely

This significant update on Facebook includes a feature allowing users to "Double-tap" a photo in the feed to instantly like it.

To advance the vision of Mark Zuckerberg, CEO and co-founder of Meta, who aims to increase Facebook’s cultural influence beyond its current state, Meta recently announced several new updates designed to help users better manage clutter and create content within the app.

This Facebook update starts with adjusting how photos are viewed and interacted with in the feed, making the experience more similar to Instagram. This simplification aims to enhance immersion in the platform’s content. When multiple photos are posted together, they will display in a grid format, and users can now double-tap photos to like them.

At the same time, Meta is redesigning the process for creating Stories and new posts by positioning popular tools, such as music addition and friend tagging, in locations that are easier to find and use.

Search results will be improved to feature more content in a visually fuller grid layout that supports all content types. Additionally, Meta is testing a way to view photos and videos in full screen without losing the original position within the search list.

Previously, Meta introduced ways to customize visibility on Instagram and Threads. For Facebook, Meta promises to continue introducing new methods in the coming months that allow users to better direct their feed and provide more data to the algorithm.

Meta’s blog further mentions plans to design a menu that simplifies commenting. Meta states these changes are just the beginning toward making Facebook less cluttered and easier to use, with more updates planned for next year.
