Galaxy Z TriFold Sells Out in South Korea, Signaling Strong Demand Ahead of U.S. Launch

The Galaxy Z TriFold sold out both in physical stores and online within a single day, signaling strong demand as it prepares for its launch in the major U.S. market next year.

Although Samsung's much-anticipated Galaxy Z TriFold, a triple-fold smartphone, is scheduled for release in the U.S. early next year, the recent launch in South Korea, Samsung's home country, has shown even stronger momentum than expected.

The Galaxy Z TriFold went on sale in South Korea yesterday, and reports from SammyGuru indicate an immediate major success. In addition to online pre-orders, Samsung sold the device through 20 retail stores nationwide, attracting large crowds eager to experience the device firsthand. Within less than a day of sales, the Z TriFold was completely sold out both offline and online, despite its starting price of about 2,500 U.S. dollars (around 80,000 baht) for the standard 512GB model.

Of course, a sold-out status does not always guarantee massive consumer demand, since actual sales figures provide a clearer measure.

Nevertheless, it is undeniable that the Galaxy Z TriFold had an impressive debut, even as Samsung's first-generation product. It benefits from over half a decade of experience developing foldable screen devices, making it feel much less risky to use compared to Samsung's original Galaxy Fold from 2019. Given the relatively high price, selling out within minutes remains a remarkable achievement.

Samsung is currently allowing users in South Korea to register their interest for subsequent stock replenishments, although it remains unclear when the device will be available again in physical stores.

Meanwhile, for the major U.S. market, the release is planned for early 2026, expected to coincide with the launch of the main Samsung Galaxy S26 lineup. It is impossible to predict in advance whether demand in North America will match the high levels seen in South Korea.

However, interested buyers may want to start budgeting now, as the situation suggests pre-order availability will likely sell out just as quickly.
