Google Play Store to Launch Try before you buy Feature Allowing Users to Trial Games Before Purchase

A new feature on Google Play Store allows users to try before deciding to purchase.

Google is developing a new feature on Play Store to address issues faced by both users and developers. It will allow Android users to try full versions of games for free for a limited time, helping them decide to buy without uncertainty about whether the app will meet their expectations. Developers also no longer need to spend resources creating separate demo versions.

An examination of the code in Google Play Store APK version 49.6.19-29 revealed commands referencing a feature"Try before you buy"with the following notable points:

  • Flexible trial duration – developers can set their own trial periods, ranging from minutes to one hour or several hours. The countdown starts as soon as the user launches the game.
  • Immediate continuation upon purchase – this feature includes a system"Pick up where you left off"which saves progress during the trial, allowing users who decide to buy the game to continue exactly where they left off without restarting.
  • Limited to one trial per account – to prevent repeated use, the system restricts the trial to one time per game per user account.

Although current data mainly refers to games, it is possible thatGooglemay extend this feature to paid applications in general, potentially adapting it for Freemium models so users can temporarily access locked content.

However, this feature is still under development with no official release schedule.
