TikTok announced a collaboration with the Election Commission, Cofact, and Thai PBS Verify to launch the 2026 Thai election information center, implementing strict measures to detect AI-generated content in hopes of creating a safe information ecosystem ahead of the major election on 8 Feb 2026 GMT+7.
TikTok Thailand officially launched the 2026 Thai election information center within its app as part of preparations for Thailand’s major general election scheduled for 8 February 2026 GMT+7.
Chanida Klaipan, Director of Public Policy, SEA at TikTok, said the main purpose of this center is to connect users with reliable sources through collaboration with the Election Commission (EC), Cofact, and Thai PBS Verify. Users can easily access the center by typing “การเลือกตั้ง” or “Elections” in English in TikTok’s search bar to find candidate lists, polling locations, and voting procedures—all information sourced directly from the EC.
On the technical side, TikTok has implemented a system called Content Credentials (C2PA) behind the app to automatically detect and label AI-generated content. TikTok is confident this technology will help trace content origins and prevent misinformation during the election, including hate speech and operations by information operations (IO) teams. Additionally, if users spot irregularities, they can report them through TikTok’s backend tools.
Siriprapa Weerachaisingh, Outreach and Partnerships Manager, Trust and Safety at TikTok, stated that regarding political accounts, TikTok has set strict policies prohibiting political parties, politicians, or government-related accounts from using advertising features or monetizing on TikTok. This includes Boost Post to promote advantages online during campaigns.
However, general users not directly affiliated with political parties, politicians, or government agencies may still express opinions and engage politically according to TikTok’s community guidelines. TikTok will monitor political content in this category to prevent misuse during the election process.
