Galaxy S26 Ultra to Launch with New Gorilla Glass, Possibly Eliminating Need for Screen Protectors

The Galaxy S26 Ultra will use a new Gorilla Glass model that emphasizes exceptional durability, potentially eliminating the need for screen protectors.

The latest information about Samsung's next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, suggests a significant change in screen technology to enhance durability and user privacy. According to insider Ice Universe, this model will adopt a new Gorilla Glass that is especially strong, designed to address previous issues that required external film or protective glass layers. The glass's enhanced toughness focuses on superior scratch resistance and drop protection, possibly making tempered glass screen protectors unnecessary.

Beyond durability, the Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to debut with a Privacy Display feature, a new technology that restricts the screen's viewing angle to prevent onlookers from peeking. This technology works together with a new OLED panel and the Flex Magic Pixel feature, which adjusts light direction so only the person directly in front of the screen can see clearly. Combined with an upgraded anti-reflective layer better than previous versions, users will enjoy sharp viewing experiences in all lighting conditions without the need for anti-glare or privacy films.. . .. . .

Integrating hardware-level screen protection technology may be a key Samsung strategy to differentiate itself in the premium smartphone market, focusing on practical usability and convenience.

Regarding internal performance, the Galaxy S26 Ultra will be powered bya high-end processor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Samsung is expected to officially announce this at the Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for late February 2026.
