Samsung teases camera upgrades for the Galaxy S26 Ultra, while the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ continue using the same lens sets without changes.
Although Samsung has yet to officially announce the date for Galaxy Unpacked 2026, it is anticipated to take place on 25 February. Recently, Samsung released three short videos titled “Groove,” “Glow,” and “Closer” to hint at camera system upgrades in the Galaxy S26 Series, especially improvements in low-light photography and zoom capabilities.
Samsung also emphasized the integration with artificial intelligence to make the Galaxy S26 Series an AI Phone, working in tandem with the new camera hardware.
The Galaxy S26 Series camera upgrade includes widening the main lens aperture from f/1.7 to f/1.5, and the 5x telephoto lens aperture will be increased to f/2.9 to enhance light capture in low-light conditions and improve zoom image sharpness.
However, these hardware camera upgrades will be limited to the Galaxy S26 Ultra model only, with the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ expected to retain the previous generation’s lens sets.
Beyond hardware, all Galaxy S26 models will add support for an advanced video codec called Advanced Professional Video, which will allow recorded video files greater flexibility for professional-level color grading and editing. Samsung is expected to officially announce these details at the Galaxy Unpacked event in three weeks.
